Who We Are
The Canadian Military Wives Choir Halifax is a welcoming community for women aged 18+ who share connections to the military community, including active or retired military members, spouses, partners, mothers, daughters, and supporters.
Through music, friendship, and camaraderie, we create an encouraging and inclusive space where women of all musical backgrounds can connect, grow in confidence, and build lasting friendships through a shared love of singing.
Our Story
The Military Wives Choirs movement began in England in 2010 at Royal Air Force Base Catterick Garrison when a group of women connected to military life came together to sing, support one another, and build community during periods of deployment and separation. What began as a small local choir quickly grew into an international movement after gaining national attention for its message of resilience, friendship, and support.
CMWC Across Canada
Inspired by this movement, the Canadian Military Wives Choirs (CMWC) was established to bring that same sense of connection and belonging to military communities across Canada. Today, CMWC chapters provide welcoming spaces where women connected to military life can come together through music, friendship, and shared experiences while supporting one another through the unique challenges and transitions of military living.
CMWC Halifax
Founded in October 2017, the Canadian Military Wives Choir Halifax continues this mission here in Nova Scotia by creating a supportive and inclusive environment for women connected to the military community. Through rehearsals, performances, morale nights, community events, and shared experiences, CMWC Halifax has grown into more than a choir — it is a community built on music, encouragement, camaraderie, and belonging.
