Who can join?

Membership is open to women aged 18+ who have a connection to the military community, including active or retired military members, spouses and partners, mothers, daughters, and supporters of military life.

Do I need to read music?

No. While sheet music is provided, many members learn using practice tracks and rehearsal recordings.

When and where do rehearsals take place?

Regular rehearsals are held Monday evenings at St. Brendan's Chapel, CFB Halifax. Specific dates and times can be found on our calendar.

How much are membership dues?

Membership dues are determined annually. Please contact us for current rates and payment information.

What kind of music do you sing?

Our repertoire includes inspirational music, contemporary selections, traditional pieces, patriotic songs, holiday music, and music that reflects the experiences and spirit of the military community.

Are performances mandatory?

While performances are encouraged, we understand that military life, family commitments, and work schedules can create challenges. Members are welcome to participate as their schedules allow.

Can I attend a rehearsal before joining?

Absolutely! We encourage prospective members to visit a rehearsal, meet the choir, and see if CMWC Halifax is the right fit for them.

Can I book the choir for an event?

How do I stay informed about choir activities?

Members receive access to our website resources, calendars, announcements, and email communications to stay up to date on rehearsals, performances, and events.

Do I have to audition?

No. CMWC Halifax is a non-audition choir and welcomes women of all musical backgrounds and experience levels.

What should I bring to my first rehearsal?

Just bring yourself. Music, information, and guidance will be provided, and a choir member will be happy to help you get settled.

What voice part will I sing?

Our choir is divided into Soprano 1, Soprano 2, and Alto sections. If you're unsure where your voice fits, we'll help you find the section that's most comfortable for you.
